Now, the development of new energy power batteries is mainly focused on hydrogen fuel cells and lithium-sulfur batteries. Among them, Japan and South Korea lead the hydrogen fuel cell technology, Europe and the United States lead the lithium-sulfur battery technology, and China is in hot pursuit in both directions. The specific energy of a lithium-sulfur battery pack reaches 332 Wh/kg, which is far lower than the 566Wh/kg of a single battery. This is a common disadvantage of lithium batteries, namely, the specific energy utilization of the battery pack is low. There have been related companies abroad, such as the United States Sion Corporation, the British OXIS company, are trying to research and development and mass production of commercial lithium-sulfur batteries for flexible packaging, which is the active participation of foreign VC funds. Some domestic institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have also introduced self-developed lithium-sulfur batteries for flexible packaging.

Hydrogen fuel cells have the characteristics of large-scale stable storage, continuous supply, long-distance transportation, and rapid replenishment. The disadvantages are that liquid storage consumes a lot of energy, and the construction and operation costs of hydrogen refueling stations are relatively high. China is a major country producing hydrogen, contributing 22 million tons of the world's 60 million tons of hydrogen, accounting for 34% of the total. The source of hydrogen production is similar to that of the international market, and the vast majority comes from fossil energy sources. Because China is rich in coal, hydrogen from coal has become a major source of hydrogen from fossil fuels.

 

The NECAR I, the first fuel cell car manufactured by Mercedes-Benz in 1995, was very large and stupid at the time, but it has been continuously improved every year, and the technology fully meets the actual driving needs. Mercedes-Benz used three hydrogen fuel cell cars to make a global ring, causing a sensation, but industrialization has not yet moved because of cost. The mass production of Toyota and other car companies can not be separated from advanced technology, experience, technology and equipment, so that its production costs are well controlled. The domestic hydrogen fuel cell technology can be said to be at stake. The level of manufacturing of components is not bad, and catalysts and membranes can be made. However, the performance of the assembly is poor.

Currently, only three automakers are capable of industrializing hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. South Korea's Hyundai achieved volume export to Scandinavia in 2013. The other two are Japan’s Toyota and Honda, and the United States and Europe are also developing rapidly. China's hydrogen fuel cells have only a certain amount of applications for Jinlong Bus. The most important factor constraining the development of domestic hydrogen fuel cell vehicles is the hydrogen refueling station. For example, there are special hydrogen refueling station application documents in California, want to do hydrogen refueling stations, download files from government websites, and can do it step by step. There are no large-scale applications. Some units are self-built and self-contained.

 

From the current stage, the development prospect of lithium-sulfur batteries is even greater. The reason is very simple. It can be charged anywhere in China, but hydrogen can not be everywhere. However, if unmanned vehicles are used in large-scale applications, the cost advantages of large-scale hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will become apparent. The intensity of the commercialization of our army to the people is still far from Europe and the United States. We still need to catch up.
